Getting to the end of the flatlands

Hello from De Steeg, just a few kilometers past Arnhem –that is if your going east, as we’re.

Here’s something different we did today and we hadn’t done the previous days: we had lunch outside a Jumbo (supermarket chain) in Heteren –after we bought some food.

We usually carried provisions and stopped along the cycling paths a ‘rest area’ or commonly known as picnic table. However, today we realised that one and another one in Rheden –just a few kilometers from the campgound– were very close. We therefore took the chance to travel light(er) during the most part of the day.

Cycling wise, today was yet another flat, flat day: less than 150 m of overall ascent for almost 70 km. We followed several cycling paths along more canals, through fields and lovely small villages. We then circled around Arnhem and ended up pitching the tent at a small but very convenient campground in De Steeg.

Tomorrow we should finish the journey at the very border with Germany… we will miss The Netherlands soooo much –especially Tere.
